Global Love

    Belief systems or

      Logic and Reason

Do I adhere to something because:

1/ I am told to?

2/ it's convenient?

3/ it conforms to logic & reason?

We live in a world where we are interacting with peoples from all corners of the globe: either face to face, due to migration of workers, or indirectly through electronic communication. In our own groups we can often conform to beliefs because they are convenient or temporarily appeasing; regardless of whether they stand up to the test of reason & logic.

Doing this means that some of our beliefs seem illogical or wrong to other peoples and cultures and vice a versa. They have a negative impact. It causes confusion and discordance between nations and many a horrid clash has ensued.

Is it not clear what has caused the many brutal conflicts and fall-outs between citizens of the world?

We need to be mature and responsible as global citizens i.e. put Reason 1st and dogma or devotion 2nd, not the other way around.

Otherwise we cut ourselves off from the rest of the world.

It is only because we won't take full conscious responsibility for our actions that dogma reigns. E.G. 'I can kill for my country' or ‘God is a man and white’ are dogmatic - they defy reason. To defend your people is justifiable/reasonable and quite different. To love the unknown God is reasonable.

Dogma in its clear opposition to Love consists of an idea held, fixed and rigid, in mind. You could call it lazy or unconscious but it is usually adapted for convenience and it suits where we are; temporarily. We often forget this and hold on to stale ideas. This binds the heart and suffocates or burns us from within. Love on the other hand allows the mind and heart to remain mobile, free and open thus in tune and in touch with our deepest desires and the people around us. The past, the present and our future are all computed in a flash.

How could a fixed idea rigid and immovable ever navigate the past, present and thus plot a path to a bigger, brighter future for the human race.
